Who’s Behind It?
Michael is a senior at Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts.
Michael balances his academic interests in history, computer programming, and foreign languages with leadership roles in school clubs. As the president of the AI Explorers Club and the Jewish Student Union, he demonstrates a commitment to both technology and cultural engagement.
A technology enthusiast, Michael has several years of experience coding in Python and creatively applying AI tools. On a different note, he is passionate about music and is an accomplished pianist, having won numerous competitions and performed at Carnegie Hall eight times. He is also involved locally, playing for seniors at community centers.
Speaking English, Russian, and Spanish, Michael's linguistic skills and global perspective were further developed through volunteering at an orphanage in Spain, aiding displaced Ukrainian children. His love for athletics and the outdoors is reflected in his enjoyment of surfing, trekking, and participation in his school's varsity swim team.
“The American Mosaic” combines Michael's diverse interests. The project's objective is to interview 100 immigrants, shedding light on their unique experiences. He hopes to design this website as a way to hear the authentic voices of participants, and also intends to publish a book to share these stories more broadly.
At home, Michael is the eldest of three brothers and loves his dog, Apollo.
